My Pleasant Gap Trip 2017
Every year my family and I take a few summer trips to the Pleasant Gap/State College area to visit with family and have a bunch of fun adventures. This year, our trip was filled with amazing times with family, incredible food, and a beautiful atmosphere.
My aunt and uncle who we spent the week with have an incredible property that they call Popland. It is bordered on either side by train tracks and a relaxing stream. Ever since I was a little girl I can remember playing in the stream and being woken up early by the sound of a train coming down the tracks. That's all part of the experience at Popland! My uncle grows his own grapes, apples, and other fruits and veggies throughout his property. It is really cool to see how much they have grown every time we visit. My family and I spend a lot of time sitting by the stream or playing board games or just chatting and sipping wine from Seven Mountains Winery. It is soo relaxing being in that environment and I couldn't imagine anything better the week before I go back to school!
Bellefonte is the cutest little town near where my aunt and uncle live. I have been going to the Bellefonte Park for as long as I can remember and I absolutely love it. We have to feed the ducks and the fish and explore the park after having lunch at The Bellefonte Wok at least once every summer. It's tradition! Now that I am growing up a little, the rest of Bellefonte is pretty exciting to me too. For example, they have a wine bar across from the park that we all went into to take a little break from walking around town for a little wine tasting. This is something I have never gotten to experience in previous summers and it was such a nice touch to the day!
The Grange Fair is one of my favorite parts of all of my summers by far. I have gone every year since I can remember and I have always had the best time. As you can see, the fair is filled with incredible food, games, show animals, and beautiful fall/winter displays (which gets me reaaally excited for Halloween and Christmas). One of my favorite parts of Grange Fair is the bench that is dedicated to my cousin Steve who passed away a few years back. He absolutely loved going to the fair. I love seeing that bench every year and feeling like he is at the fair with us! I had a great time at the fair this year and it was the perfect ending to my summer.
As I get older and my life gets busier, I'm not sure if I will be able to make it to Pleasant Gap every year to spend time with my family, feeding ducks and eating greasy fair food. As sad as that makes me, I know I will always have incredible memories to look back on. I am so happy I decided to write this blog post, I know it will be one of those posts I look back on years from now. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Thank you for reading!
