Halloween Costume Ideas
I have always been the type of person to wait until the last possible second to pick a Halloween costume. This year I stepped up my game a little bit for this post and found a bunch of cheap &/or creative costume ideas. If anyone is in need of a last minute idea before Halloween, check out some of the costumes I threw together!
Group/couple costumes are such a fun way to dress up for Halloween! Julia and I dressed up for a couple of different Halloween parties together this year. The first costume idea that we fell in love with was beanie babies! Animal onesies are super popular and a lot of people already have them. Julia and I already had a unicorn and a giraffe, which were perfect for our first costume! I made the beanie baby tags really quick with some construction paper and a glue stick. It was such an easy costume and I already had everything I needed to create it! The second costume idea we had was to be Mario & Luigi! I actually already had the Luigi hat since I had dressed up as him when I was like twelve. But Julia got a Mario accessory pack complete with a mustache and Mario gloves for super cheap on amazon! I also picked up a pack of fake mustaches from target for like $3! I already had my overalls and a green t-shirt as well, and Julia bought a cheap pair of suspenders and a long sleeve red t-shirt to complete her Mario look! I am the biggest super Mario fan so we had so much fun dressing up for this party! We even ran into Princess Peach and Donkey Kong at the party! Julia and I dressed up in inflatable costumes together a couple of years ago. I have had the sumo costume for years and years and I got the man riding an ostrich costume a few years back. These aren't the cheapest costumes, but they are so hilarious and so much fun. There is a huge variety of blow up costumes at Party City that will last you for many Halloween's!
Another costume idea I had for this Halloween is an 80s/90s chick! The items that I found are kinda a mixture of both decades, so I just went with it! You can find so many 80s and 90s fashion pieces at goodwill or any other thrift store for like five bucks! This whole outfit was thrifted. I wore some mom jeans with a crazy printed button up shirt. I didn't actually end up wearing this costume out anywhere, so it kinda just looks like a normal outfit that someone who is stuck in the 90s might wear. I completed this look by pulling my hair into a ponytail with one of my moms scrunchies and I love the vibes I was getting from this costume!
I know that dressing up as a cat for Halloween is super lame and cliche, but it is SOO easy and cheap! If you are really struggling to find a costume, just be a cat! They sell cat ears anywhere from Walmart to Forever21! They sell them pretty much all year and I already had this pair from a few Halloweens ago. I drew the cat face on with some eyeliner in about five minutes and boom, I was a cat! The best part about being a cat for Halloween is that you can wear whatever you want as long as you are wearing cat ears! Get creative with your outfit.
If you really don't like wearing Halloween costumes, its just as fun to wear a spooky-themed shirt. I got this glow-in-the-dark "I'm with Creepy" sweatshirt from Walmart last year. There are Halloween themed shirts and sweatshirts almost everywhere and if you don't want to dress up but still want to get in the spirit of the holiday, themed clothes are a great start! I have also seen a bunch of Halloween themed leggings and pants! I need to get a pair with candy corn on them!
I have loved all things Halloween since I was a kid. I can't not dress up! I hope I could help a couple of people who were struggling to find some last minute Halloween costumes! A blog post like this would have definitely been a big help to me the last few Halloweens. I hope everyone has an amazing, safe Halloween! Stay spooky.
