Stress Relief Tips

February 23, 2018

As the semester progresses, I find myself feeling more and more stressed and overwhelmed. When I am feeling particularly stress-y, I take some time to myself and do a couple of things that I find soothing and relaxing. If school or work is stressing you out, I hope some of these things can help you!

The most relaxing thing I can think of is to take a nice, hot bath. It takes all my stress away for awhile. It's the best feeling! When I am feeling really stressed, I run a hot bath, get a glass of wine, and take a little time for myself. An important thing to remember when you are stressed is that it is okay to take a break to calm down and relax. I always seem to forget that.

One of my favorite things to do when I am feeling stressed is to do some coloring. Focusing on the coloring page in front of you really helps melt away your stress. Instead of thinking of all of your projects and deadlines, you are thinking about what pretty color you want to pick up next. Throughout the semester, you can find me coloring all the time.

Another one of my go-to stress relievers is my glitter jar! There is something about shaking the jar and watching the glitter fall that is so relaxing. I originally made this jar for my future classroom for my students to use as a calm down technique. But it works so well to calm me down too. This particularly helps me when I am feeling really overwhelmed and anxious, when I have a million deadlines and I feel like there isn't enough time in the world to finish all of my assignments. It really helps me to take a breather and focus on watching the glitter fall. Here is how to make this relaxing glitter jar!

The next thing I like to do when I am feeling stressed is to listen to some relaxing music. Ever since I took a yoga class in high school, I find that yoga & meditation type music to be so relaxing. Sometimes I will turn this music on and close my eyes and focus on my breathing to melt my stress away for awhile. It really helps to do this every so often so you don't become too overwhelmed by everything going on in your life. I also play this music while doing yoga, because yoga is a stress reliever for me as well!

Last, but definitely not least, I tend to drink a cup of tea when I am feeling stressed. I am a big tea drinker. I drink at least one cup of tea a day. But they actually make tea specifically for relieving stress! That is killing two birds with one stone for me, because I would be drinking some anyway. I also find that a cup of green tea helps me de-stress. Green tea is my go-to when I am getting a stress headache.

There are just a few of the things I like to do when I am feeling stressed. Letting your stress bottle up and not doing anything about it can be so unhealthy (I learned that the hard way)! So, I do all of these things as often as I see fit so I don't get too overwhelmed and stressed out. I hope I could give you guys some tips and tricks on how to manage your stress! Thanks for reading!
